Sam Blake, Nurse Practitioner

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Australia is an advanced practice Registered Nurse (RN) endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and registered with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to practice autonomously following extensive experience and a Master's degree.

Sam operates within this extended clinical role, meaning she can diagnose conditions, order pathology/radiology, prescribe medications, and manage full episodes of care and patient referrals. In essence, she is the most senior and independent clinical nurse, providing high-quality, holistic care.  She can provide rebates through Medicare and provide prescriptions and access PBS medicines.

Sam brings extensive clinical expertise and a deeply compassionate philosophy to every consultation. Her professional perspective is profoundly shaped by a life rich with adaptability and resilience.

Her life experience began with the move from the UK to Australia as a child, and with many more relocations, she established a foundation for embracing change. This trait has been essential throughout her career, with her extensive study and professional life spanning Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. Furthermore, managing the complex demands of a family with five children has uniquely honed her ability to prioritise, organise, and approach clinical care with unparalleled efficiency and deep empathy.

Sam is committed to providing specialised, non-judgemental care, with a strong focus on the neurodiverse community and clients from the LGBTIQ+ community. Her core specialities include:

  1. Neurodiversity: Comprehensive assessment and ongoing management for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Sam performs a full clinical work-up (including pathology, ECG, and reporting) and provides expert medication titration and monitoring. She is also developing her speciality in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment.
  2. Addiction Medicine & Mental Health: Specialised care for mental health conditions and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) conditions, including opioid pharmacotherapy, alcohol withdrawal management and pharmacotherapy, and smoking cessation support.
  3. Integrated Care: Managing co-occurring physical health conditions, chronic illnesses, and blood borne virus

A member of the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association and Drug and Alcohol Nurses of Australasia, Sam values collaboration. She works seamlessly with other healthcare providers to ensure her patients receive expert, tailored care, empowering them to achieve the best possible outcomes in health and wellbeing.
